The Sussexes once again have to deal with cybersquatters

Meghan Markle

BusinessInsider.com published an interesting article about Meghan Markle the Duchess of Sussex.

Meghan Markle launched the site American Riviera Orchard last month, and has apparently filed trademark applications indicating she plans to sell tableware, cookbooks, jams, and spreads. They own AmericanRivieraOrchard.com.

So someone has registered americanrivieraorchard.uk and put a link to a JustGiving page in support of The Trussell Trust, the UK’s leading food bank charity.

The article states this is not the first time the Sussexes forgot to register all the names.

In 2020, their Archewell Foundation was targetted, with the domain archewellfoundation.com briefly directing visitors to a YouTube video of Kanye West’s, or Ye’s, song “Gold Digger.” (The actual foundation URL is archewell.org.)

They also mentioned that ending in .uk is not popular even in the United Kingdom with preference given to .co.uk or .org.uk. But still they should have thought to secure the .uk.
